When the US patent and Trademark Office launched its pilot programme last December with the aim of accelerating the examination of green technology patent applications, expectations were pretty high. Accelerated examination of 3,000 petitions was suppsoed to speed up the pace of innovation and development in the green technology sector. Sadly, things did not seem to have worked out quite the way the USPTO were hoping.
