Is legal education already at a crossroads, or have we not yet reached that point? Confronted with a rapidly changing social landscape where the role and relevance of law are evolving, legal academia has attempted some reforms over the past decades. Yet, law schools still seem slow to adapt, clinging to traditional models that teach students to memorize precedent and focus on doctrinal mastery. This approach reduces lawyers to passive participants in our dynamic society, leaving graduates ill-prepared to critically engage with, interpret, or respond to the shifting contexts in which legal systems operate. In this editorial, reflecting on a long career as an IP practitioner, I argue that this approach needs radical change to resist the marginalization of law in modern society.
