Summary
This article is based on the response of the authors to the United Kingdom’s Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) consultation on copyright and artificial intelligence, which closed on 25 February 2025, which outlined proposals to change existing copyright law to balance copyright holders’ rights to seek compensation with the needs of AI developers by establishing a clear legal framework for AI training using copyrighted materials.
