Summary
With the emergence of digital technologies that have transformed many aspects of human life, the IP ecosystem could not escape those changes. A paradigm shift is required. This study maintains that integrating emerging technologies into the IP ecosystem is essential. This integration can occur in two ways: recognizing the creations of machines, including digital technologies, and applying new or adjusted IP rules to accommodate these creations. The study demonstrates how IP rules can be adjusted to integrate digital technologies such as AI, the metaverse, big data, the Internet of Things, and social media by redesigning some of those rules.
