Note
A new freely available chatbot called ChatGPT recently made waves in the media for its remarkable ability to perform tasks traditionally performed by trained professionals and white-collar workers. The chatbot is capable of generating human-like responses to text prompts with a high degree of accuracy. One recent article notes that several jobs suddenly appear at risk from automation, including copywriters, journalists, customer-service agents, paralegals, coders, and digital marketers. Not even lawyers appear safe, as GPT-4, a new version of the model that runs ChatGPT, is already capable of scoring near the ninetieth percentile of the Multistate Bar Exam.
