Note
The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 ushered in the era of generative artificial intelligence (“generative AI”). Generative AI refers to an emerging form of artificial intelligence that can generate new, realistic content from training data that include texts, images, sounds, or videos. Generative AI is special in that it can produce incisive and meaningful contents rapidly in a way human authors cannot readily produce. The arrival of generative AI has fueled conversations regarding ultra intelligent machines like the one described in the quote above and how to build such machines to benefit humanity.
