A bright future ahead for the UPC.

For a court with a gestation period that has lasted for decades, the Unified Patent Court (UPC) has shown remarkably quick and dynamic first steps since opening its doors on 1 June 2023. These baby steps have already begun to demonstrate a clear direction of travel, and this special feature includes five articles that shed more light on some of the substantive and procedural issues that showcase the UPC’s forward-looking attitude, its focus on harmonization and efficiency and its desire to establish a unique identity as a patent litigation forum.
