Resúmen
On 24 May 2024, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), after 20 years of discussion, adopted the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge by consensus of the 190 participating countries. This Treaty is now open for signature during a one-year period following its adoption and will enter into force once 15 eligible parties have deposited their instrument of ratification or accession with WIPO. As of July 2024, 32 countries had signed the Treaty, none of them a developed country. This is now the 27th Treaty administered by WIPO.
