Резюме
In one of his early Dialogues, Euthydemus, which is dedicated to the art and practice of disputing, Plato evokes the myth of the Labyrinth to describe the extreme complexity of arguments which systemically and dialectically intersect.1 This evocation of the age of the lycée echoes through this exceptional volume, co-edited by two eminent IP scholars, Professors Duncan Matthews and Paul Torremans, published (2023) by De Gruyter. This timely volume published right at the beginning of the experience of the application of the Unitary Patent (UP) and the Unified Court (UPC) systems, effective since June 2023. Recognized as a breakthrough innovation, even before becoming effective, it is the most important change in the European patent system since the European Patent Office (EPO) took up its operation in 1977. The ‘unitary’ system is having, and will continue to have, a profound and lasting impact on the European patent law landscape, including significant changes to litigation strategies.
