The purpose of  this article is to reflect on the journey thus far and the  road ahead. This article does this in two ways. The first  part of the article identifies some aspects of European  Union trade mark law that can be regarded as  uncontroversial. The second part explores a number of  issues of a more speculative nature as well as some trends  that may shape the evolution of European Union trade mark  law in the years to come.},
