摘要
Agents do not create in isolation. Indeed, the production of innovation relies on the recombination of existing knowledge and ideas. Employees within a firm and across its different departments create and recombine ideas through a process of collective learning that is structured within the organization (Lorenz, 1996; March, 1991). Organizations produce innovations by combining existing knowledge that goes beyond the limits of their boundaries. In short, firms turn to external sources of ideas (Rosenkopf and Almedia, 2003) and their ability to recombine and exploit such knowledge is pivotal in boosting their competitive advantage (Dosi, 1988; Singh and Agrawal, 2011).
