Tracking the most recent global innovation trends, the GII finds that – despite a climate of disquiet and a decline in risk capital investment – opportunities abound as a result of the incipient Digital Age and Deep Science innovation waves. At its core, the GII 2023 reveals who is leading in global innovation, ranking the innovation performance of 132 economies and highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. In addition, it identifies the world’s top 100 science and technology clusters. The GII is a “tool for action” regarding innovation policy. Governments around the world have used the GII to benchmark innovation performance, perfect innovation metrics and, ultimately, to shape evidence-based innovation policymaking. In the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), since 2019, the GII has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly to be a benchmark for measuring innovation, including more recently in a post-pandemic environment. 000048228 542__ $$fCC-BY 4.0 000048228 650_4 $$aTechnological innovations 000048228 650_4 $$aEnergy 000048228 650_4 $$aSupply Chain 000048228 650_4 $$aCOVID-19 000048228 7001_ $$aDutta, Soumitra.$$eEditor. 000048228 7001_ $$aLanvin, Bruno.$$eEditor. 000048228 7001_ $$aRivera León, Lorena.$$eEditor. 000048228 7001_ $$aWunsch-Vincent, Sacha.$$eEditor. 000048228 8564_ $$y10.34667/tind.48228$$995a14825-9ce3-4842-a350-fe4d6b85c904$$s2199477$$uhttps://tind.wipo.int/record/48228/files/wipo-pub-2000-2023-exec-en-global-innovation-index-2023.pdf 000048228 901__ $$aWIPO/PUB/2000/2023/EXEC 000048228 902__ $$a48228_en 000048228 903__ $$aGlobal Innovation Index 000048228 904__ $$aBook summary 000048228 909__ $$ooai:tind.wipo.int:48228$$pWIPOPUB 000048228 909__ $$ooai:tind.wipo.int:48228$$pWIPOPUB 000048228 909CO $$ooai:tind.wipo.int:48228$$pWIPOPUB 000048228 980__ $$aWIPOPUB$$aGII
