The Open Source Hardware Association created a certification database that could be used for prior art, but it misses inventions that are not commercialized. To capture these technologies, this study describes a novel tool that is a semi-automated way of applying for certification from MediaWiki websites. A case study using Appropedia, found that transfer of information needed to obtain OSHWA certification could be completed on average in 62.5% less than direct form filling. 000047472 542__ $$fhttps://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0172219022000552 000047472 588__ $$aCrossref 000047472 590__ $$aPublished online: 27-Oct-22 000047472 650_0 $$aPatents. 000047472 650_0 $$aScience and Technology. 000047472 7001_ $$aPeplinski, Jack,$$eauthor. 000047472 7001_ $$aVelis, Emilio,$$eauthor. 000047472 7001_ $$aPearce, Joshua M.,$$eauthor. 000047472 7730_ $$tWorld Patent Information$$wWPI 000047472 830_0 $$aWorld Patent Information,$$v71, December, 2022. 000047472 85641 $$uhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.wpi.2022.102150$$yonline version 000047472 904__ $$aJournal article 000047472 980__ $$aWPI
