Subsequently it analyses the policies that South Africa has adopted to this effect since the transition to democracy. The paper then looks at the impact on the South African NSI of these policies, in particular the IPR Act, which has been in force since August 2010. It presents new data that indicate encouraging progress in patenting and other aspects of commercialization involving public research organizations (PROs)2 in South Africa, before setting forth a summary of the analysis as well as conclusions. 000028055 542__ $$fLicense: CC BY 3.0 IGO 000028055 650_0 $$aPatents$$zAfrica. 000028055 650_4 $$aSouth Africa 000028055 650_4 $$aManagement and Commercialization of Publicly Funded R&D Outcomes 000028055 651_0 $$aAfrica$$xCommerce$$xLaw and legislation. 000028055 830_0 $$aWIPO Publication. 000028055 8564_ $$uhttp://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/wipo_casestudy_ip_comm_za.pdf$$yView electronic version 000028055 903__ $$aWIPO Publication 000028055 942__ $$cMON$$2ddc 000028055 980__ $$aBIB 000028055 999__ $$c31111$$d31111
