The author studies the arguments for and against the advisability of the United Kingdom changing from its current trade mark registration system to adopt the European CTM model and advocates the adoption of an opt-in-solution in the United Kingdom as a bolder move towards the abrogation of official searches (like in Germany), which should be the broader aim for the future.
