"Participants in the entertainment industry have long relied on oral agreements. This reliance opens parties to numerous legal difficulties. The recent U.K. case involving the members of the musical group Spandau Ballet contributes to the body of U.S. and U.K. jurisprudence that struggles with the question of how such 'agreements' form binding contracts and with just what terms have been agreed upon. In spite of industry custom, practitioners should encourage entertainment clients to document their business relationships in at least some written form whenever possible."
