This 14th edition has been fundamentally revised both stylistically and structurally to give the reader a comprehensive study of this rapidly expanding area of law. The structure of this edition is built around four fundamental rights: copyright - many chapters entirely rewritten and all extensively revised, giving a full account of the effects of the increase in the terms of copyright and the new rental and database rights; moral rights - entirely rewritten to explain fully the intricacies and difficulties of the law with which the UK is still having to come to terms; rights performances - entirely rewritten in the light of the new rights stipulated by Directive 92/100/EC; and rights in design - entirely rewritten to give a comprehensive account of this vital area of the law in practice. New chapters include industry exploitation of rights, collecting societies and control of rights. In addition, detailed treatment is given to the other complimentary rights which impinge on this field: the new database right and its relation to cOMPIlation copyright; the publication right - how valuable is this new right?; and the public lending right.
