"This article comments on two issues concerning the broadcasting regime in Greece. On the one hand, two new broadcast laws on pay television and radio services (Laws 2644/1998 and 2778/1999) have been introduced which include provisions by virtue of which the administrative sanctions imposed on television stations for TV piracy and infringement of intellectual property rights are strengthened and the procedures for imposing them are simplified. On the other, and despite the existence of the legal framework, the issue of TV and Radio licensing procedure has not yet been finalised and all licensees of TV and Radio stations operating in Greece are still provisional."
