"The implications for e-commerce of the Data Protection Act 1998 have not been carefully thought out. This article by Peter Carey considers whether e-mail addresses are personal data under the Act's provisions and goes on to explore the consequences of them being so, particularly bearing in mind the entering into force of the new provisions in March 2000."
